Beginning Watercolor II with Pam Bleakney

Fridays, 10:30am-1:30pm

March 2, 9, 16, and 23, 2018

Please register online or call 386-676-3347

This class is designed primarily for students who have taken Pam Bleakney’s “Beginning, Beginning, Watercolor” class or students with a basic knowledge of watercolor.  The class is for students still considered beginners with a burning desire to paint.  Experience the thrill of the pigment and water coming together in your creation.   I’ll demo and you can do my lessons or start creating your own compositions.  My goal is to instill a love of watercolor in each of you and add another step to your artistic journey. By the end of this session we should be planning our paintings and starting to work from our own photos or better still, our imaginations.  We will do thumbnails, value sketches and select our palette. Students are responsible for all supplies; please see supply list below. Open to participants 16 and older. Cost: $60 (members) / $67 (future members)

Supply List:

Paper:

Watercolor pad, 140lb, cold press, 6” x 9”, no bigger than 9” x 12”

Paints:

Academy or Cotman (preferred): Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, Ultramarine Blue. Permanent Rose, Cobalt Blue, Lemon Yellow, Sap Green and Burnt Sienna

If you want to buy better watercolor paint – great!  (Windsor and Newton, Holbein, Da Vinci, or M. Graham)

Palette:

A small white china plate or small plastic palette

Watercolor Brushes:

Either Rounds or Flats, size 6, 8, or 10.  I prefer rounds and a flat angular.  You will only need 2 inexpensive brushes to start. The stores mentioned below have reasonably priced brushes.  Robert Simmons are inexpensive and a good value.

For Drawing:

Sketch pad, #2 pencil, eraser (gum, white plastic or kneaded).

Supplies are available at the following:

Michael’s, Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, locally owned Southern Paints, and Wal-Mart
