“Drawing Portraits using a Grid”
February 9th, Friday, 3- 6 pm
Instructor: Stacey Fletcher Reynolds
Learn to create portraits using the grid method to transfer a photo to a larger piece of paper. This technique can be applied to any photograph once you understand the method. We will be using the drawing medium to transfer our portrait onto a larger scale piece of paper or equivalent to the size of our photograph. Please bring in a 7″ x 5″ or 6″ x 4″ photograph to use as your subject matter. All other supplies are provided; open to participants 16 and older. $70 (members) / $76 (future members)
About the Instructor:
Stacey Fletcher received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing from The University of Tennessee in 2003, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Valdosta State University in 2000. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in many individual, group, and juried exhibitions. She recently moved her family to Daytona Beach to take a position as an Assistant Professor of Studio Arts at Daytona State College. As a cathartic painter, Stacey’s work expresses emotions and frustrations that would otherwise be hard to express verbally. They seem abstract at first glace to the viewer, but have some sense of childhood imagery disguised among the colorful layers. Her work is fresh with vibrant lively colors, with layered metaphors of herself and others contrasted with the chaotic approach of the energetic marks.
