Relief Printmaking Workshop
with Fontaine Rodgers & Mary Wentzel
Relief printing (also called block printing) dates back hundreds of years to ancient China when woodblocks were carved and printed on silk. The first printing presses used this same technique, leading to an explosion of literature and art. Today, soft gray linoleum is carved, inked and printed on paper. During this workshop participants will design, carve and hand-print a single color on paper. Prints will be approximately 4.5" x 6".
