Beginning, Beginning Watercolor with Pam Bleakney
March 5, 12, 19, 26
This class is designed primarily for students with no watercolor experience but a burning desire to learn the basics. Experience the thrill of the pigment and water coming together in your creation. We’ll experiment with: different brushes, pigments, techniques, learn composition, plus we’ll paint simple landscapes, animals and flowers. After 4 classes you will know watercolor basics and feel confident beginning your next watercolor class or painting. Students are responsible for all supplies. Open to participants 16 and older. Cost: $60 (members) / $67 (future members)
Supply List for Beginning, Beginning Watercolor:
Watercolor pad, inexpensive 140lb or better weight, cold press, at least 9”x12”. Canson watercolor works well and I use it for demos.
Primary colors, Cadmium Red, Cadmium Yellow, and Ultramarine Blue plus Cobalt Blue, Permanent Rose, Lemon Yellow, Burnt Sienna and Sap Green. Try to buy Van Gogh, Cotman by Winsor and Newton, or Academy by Grumbacher
For a palette you can purchase a plastic palette or large plate.
Rounds and Flats, sizes 6, 8, 10 and a script or liner brush. If you can afford to buy Robert Simmons or medium price brushes. Please stay away from cheap craft brushes.
Sketch pad, #2 pencil, eraser (gum or white plastic), a folder to store your work in.
I’d love watercolor to be your new passion!! In the meantime, buy inexpensive student grade supplies just in case watercolor is not for you. For this class, I’ll be using the same student grade supplies I recommend. I’ll have extra to share if you forget or can’t get some of the supplies.
Supplies are available at the following:
Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, or Joann’s (look for their coupons),
