Volunteer Spotlight:

Eileen Canavan

Since becoming a volunteer at OMAM in July 2022, Eileen Canavan has dedicated more than 100 hours of service across various roles. She has worked in the gardens alongside Janett, assisted at numerous exhibit opening receptions, and warmly welcomed museum visitors as a greeter at special events. Her talent, dedication, and attention to detail were beautifully reflected in the Christmas tree representing OMAM’s new Volunteer Guild, which was on display inside The Casements during the month of December. The care and creativity she put into the display made it truly stand out, and we are so grateful for her hard work in bringing it to life. Eileen relocated to Ormond Beach five years ago with her husband, Tim, and their two dogs, Lucky and Shadow. She has two grown children and recently became a proud grandmother to a four-month-old granddaughter. Before retiring, Eileen worked with children and teenagers in special education for 10 years before transitioning to a role as a band secretary, where she supported fine arts programs and fundraising efforts for five years. She is also an active volunteer with Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine at Tomoka Christian Church, where she helps make the special needs Queens feel beautiful in the salon each year.
