Our Mission
Inspiring our community through art and nature while honoring those who fought for freedom.
OMAM was founded in 1946 as a tribute to creative freedom and those who fought valiantly to defend it. Many local World War II veterans participated in building the galleries and clearing the land for the gardens.

2025 Honorees:
-
Sherry & Roy Gailey
Malcolm Fraser Philanthropic Award
The Malcolm Fraser Philanthropic Award is given in recognition of individuals who have consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to making a difference and whose contributions have profoundly impacted OMAM and our community. Ann Burt, the director of OMAM from 1996 to 2008, presented the award to Sherry & Roy Gailey. The couple has been married for 25 years and are well known for their support of the Ormond Beach community and many nonprofits.
Roy has been owner of the long-established Carter Electric Company, Inc. in Daytona since 1985, working his way up from an apprenticeship in 1963. Roy’s trusted relationship with his employees has grown Carter Electric to nearly 100 people. Sherry comes from a retail fashion background but has focused most of her “life career” on volunteering, raising money and donating time. Her passion and love have always been art and fashion. She has donated her time, talent, and treasure to various nonprofits throughout the years, including the Cancer Society, London Symphony Guild, NASCAR Foundation, Halifax Health Foundation, Ho Ho Ho Fundraiser Girls, Halifax Humane Society, and more recently, the Ormond Main Street board. Her main passion, however, has always been OMAM, where she served on the board for 14 years and assisted with the museum’s capital campaign for its $4 million renovation, which began in fall of 2020 and completed in Spring 2022.
“Their joy of doing for others is a reflection on how they live their lives,” said Ann about the Gaileys.
